30 Years Across the Radar Stack

I’ve spent 30 years at the intersection of radar hardware, signal processing, and system design. Started in defense radar at Reutech Radar Systems in South Africa, then helped establish the digital backend instrumentation for the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) project, co-founding the international CASPER collaboration with UC Berkeley.

At Vermeer Corporation I spent 12 years leading wideband SFCW radar development for horizontal directional drilling obstacle detection — work that resulted in US Patent 9348020. From there, I created the technical blueprint for Joby Aviation’s first custom radar for eVTOL navigation, led radar sensor development for autonomous off-road perception at John Deere, and worked on neuromorphic compute architectures for radar at BrainChip.

Now as Sigma0, I partner with teams that need to solve hard radar problems: custom sensors, multistatic imaging, vital-signs sensing, and compute-efficient signal processing.
